Tigo Retrofit Deployments

EXPANDING

When is a Tigo Retrofit Appropriate?

Tigo retrofit is recommended when:

  1. Rapid shutdown compliance is needed without full system replacement
  2. Shade-related underperformance is documented and optimization would recover significant production
  3. Per-panel monitoring is desired on an existing string system
  4. Full inverter replacement is not cost-justified

Retrofit Process Overview

  1. Site assessment — document existing string configuration, panel count, inverter specs
  2. Compatibility check — verify TS4 variant is compatible with existing inverter
  3. Hardware selection — choose TS4 variant based on goals (optimize, safety, monitor)
  4. Installation — one TS4 per panel, wired in-line with existing DC string wiring
  5. Gateway installation — TAP or Cloud Connect in accessible location
  6. Commissioning — verify all units communicating, verify rapid shutdown function
  7. Documentation — update site records with new hardware

Wiring Considerations

  • Tigo units are wired in-line: panel (+) → TS4 input → TS4 output → next TS4 or combiner
  • MC4 compatible — no re-wiring of the original string wiring at the panel level
  • Ensure polarity is maintained through each unit
