Tigo Retrofit Deployments¶
EXPANDING
When is a Tigo Retrofit Appropriate?¶
Tigo retrofit is recommended when:
- Rapid shutdown compliance is needed without full system replacement
- Shade-related underperformance is documented and optimization would recover significant production
- Per-panel monitoring is desired on an existing string system
- Full inverter replacement is not cost-justified
Retrofit Process Overview¶
- Site assessment — document existing string configuration, panel count, inverter specs
- Compatibility check — verify TS4 variant is compatible with existing inverter
- Hardware selection — choose TS4 variant based on goals (optimize, safety, monitor)
- Installation — one TS4 per panel, wired in-line with existing DC string wiring
- Gateway installation — TAP or Cloud Connect in accessible location
- Commissioning — verify all units communicating, verify rapid shutdown function
- Documentation — update site records with new hardware
Wiring Considerations¶
- Tigo units are wired in-line: panel (+) → TS4 input → TS4 output → next TS4 or combiner
- MC4 compatible — no re-wiring of the original string wiring at the panel level
- Ensure polarity is maintained through each unit
