Gateway Systems

Every microinverter platform requires a local gateway device to aggregate production data and forward it to cloud monitoring.

Gateway Comparison

Platform Gateway Device Communication to Inverters To Cloud
Enphase IQ Gateway / Envoy Power line communication (PLC) Ethernet / Wi-Fi / Cellular
APsystems ECU ZigBee radio Ethernet / Wi-Fi

Gateway — Field Checklist

When visiting a microinverter site:

  • [ ] Gateway located and powered on
  • [ ] Gateway indicator lights in expected state
  • [ ] Gateway connected to network (Ethernet or Wi-Fi)
  • [ ] Gateway shows in monitoring portal as online
  • [ ] Last communication timestamp recent

Gateway Troubleshooting

No Internet Connectivity

  1. Check physical Ethernet cable (if wired)
  2. If Wi-Fi: has network SSID or password changed?
  3. Check router — is DHCP working?
  4. Restart gateway (power cycle)

Gateway Online but Missing Units

  • Check if units are producing (measure AC at branch circuit)
  • Enphase: PLC communication issue — check AC wiring continuity
  • APsystems: ZigBee range — move ECU closer to array

Gateway Offline Entirely

  • Check power at gateway location
  • Check circuit breaker for gateway outlet
  • If gateway is physically damaged: replacement required
