Gateway Systems¶
Every microinverter platform requires a local gateway device to aggregate production data and forward it to cloud monitoring.
Gateway Comparison¶
| Platform | Gateway Device | Communication to Inverters | To Cloud |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enphase | IQ Gateway / Envoy | Power line communication (PLC) | Ethernet / Wi-Fi / Cellular |
| APsystems | ECU | ZigBee radio | Ethernet / Wi-Fi |
Gateway — Field Checklist¶
When visiting a microinverter site:
- [ ] Gateway located and powered on
- [ ] Gateway indicator lights in expected state
- [ ] Gateway connected to network (Ethernet or Wi-Fi)
- [ ] Gateway shows in monitoring portal as online
- [ ] Last communication timestamp recent
Gateway Troubleshooting¶
No Internet Connectivity¶
- Check physical Ethernet cable (if wired)
- If Wi-Fi: has network SSID or password changed?
- Check router — is DHCP working?
- Restart gateway (power cycle)
Gateway Online but Missing Units¶
- Check if units are producing (measure AC at branch circuit)
- Enphase: PLC communication issue — check AC wiring continuity
- APsystems: ZigBee range — move ECU closer to array
Gateway Offline Entirely¶
- Check power at gateway location
- Check circuit breaker for gateway outlet
- If gateway is physically damaged: replacement required
