Enphase Systems¶
EXPANDING
Enphase is the dominant microinverter brand in the US market and increasingly common in the Tri-State residential market.
Enphase IQ Series¶
| Model | Power | Key Feature |
|---|---|---|
| IQ7 | 250W (panel) | Standard residential, 60/72 cell panels |
| IQ7+ | 295W | Higher current panels |
| IQ7X | 320W | High-efficiency panels |
| IQ7A | 349W | Commercial panels |
| IQ8 Series | Various | Sunlight Backup capability |
| IQ8M | 330W | Current flagship |
Envoy Gateway¶
The Envoy (or IQ Gateway) is the communication hub. It: - Receives production data from each microinverter via power line communication (PLC on AC wiring) - Connects to the internet via Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or cellular - Forwards data to Enlighten cloud monitoring - Provides local network access for diagnostics
Field note: If the Envoy loses internet but the microinverters are working, production continues — you just lose monitoring. Data is stored locally and syncs when connectivity restores.
Enlighten Monitoring¶
URL: enlighten.enphaseenergy.com
- Per-panel production monitoring
- Historical data and graphs
- System alerts and fault codes
- Installer portal separate from homeowner portal
Accessing a site: Requires installer credentials or homeowner sharing.
Enphase Installer App (Toolkit)¶
The Enphase Installer App (formerly Enlighten Manager) allows: - Direct Bluetooth connection to individual microinverters - Per-unit status and diagnostics - GFDI detection - Device replacement workflow
Common Enphase Field Issues¶
| Issue | Likely Cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Single IQ offline | Unit failure, AC trunk connection | Check physical connection, replace unit |
| Multiple IQs offline | AC branch circuit issue, breaker tripped | Check branch circuit and breaker |
| No monitoring data | Envoy internet connectivity | Restore Envoy connection |
| Envoy shows offline | Power loss to Envoy, network change | Check Envoy power and network |
