Level 3 O&M Technician¶
Role Overview¶
The O&M Technician is an independent field operator. They handle complex residential and light-commercial sites, diagnose multi-system faults, write complete inspection packages, and communicate findings professionally to clients. They may lead apprentices and junior technicians in the field.
Core Responsibilities¶
- Lead residential and light-commercial O&M visits
- Perform advanced diagnostics across SolarEdge, SMA, microinverter, and Tigo systems
- Manage an apprentice or junior tech in the field
- Deliver complete inspection packages including thermal analysis
- Maintain client relationships professionally
- Begin building drone inspection capability

- [ ] Enphase — gateway diagnostics, per-panel issue identification

BESS Awareness¶
- [ ] Battery fundamentals — SOC, DoD, cycle life, chemistry types
- [ ] Lithium safety — thermal runaway signs, emergency response
- [ ] BMS concepts — what the BMS does and why it matters
- [ ] EG4 — can perform inspection of EG4 system and document
Commercial O&M¶
- [ ] Comfortable on commercial flat rooftops

- [ ] Three-phase inverter awareness
- [ ] Commercial reporting standards
Field Leadership¶
- [ ] Mentors Level 1 effectively — patient, clear, safety-focused
