Level 2 Junior Technician¶
Role Overview¶
The Junior Technician is capable of executing standard inspection and service tasks with limited supervision. They understand SolarEdge systems well enough to perform basic diagnostics and can conduct a full residential inspection independently.
Core Responsibilities¶
- Execute residential O&M inspections independently
- Operate SolarEdge GO platform for field diagnostics and monitoring
- Write and submit clear field inspection reports
- Identify and escalate findings correctly
- Assist lead tech on complex or commercial sites
Level 2 Learning Objectives¶
SolarEdge Systems (Primary Focus)¶
- [ ] Understands SolarEdge DC-optimized architecture vs. string inverter
- [ ] Can identify all SolarEdge system components on site
- [ ] Can connect to inverter via SolarEdge GO (Bluetooth) and navigate key screens
- [ ] Reads event logs in GO and identifies common fault codes
- [ ] Can identify a non-communicating optimizer and its likely causes
- [ ] Understands SafeDC and its limitations
- [ ] Aware of SetApp as a legacy tool — knows when it may be needed on older systems
SMA Systems (Foundational)¶
- [ ] Understands string inverter behavior vs. SolarEdge
- [ ] Can identify SMA Sunny Boy models
- [ ] Can read SMA inverter display and identify fault codes
- [ ] Understands MPPT concept and how shade affects string production
Inspection Execution¶
- [ ] Executes full residential inspection independently
- [ ] Thermal imaging — can operate camera and document findings
- [ ] Field report writing meets company standard without lead review required
- [ ] Escalates correctly — knows what to escalate vs. handle independently
Communication¶
- [ ] Professional client interaction — can introduce self, explain scope, defer questions appropriately
- [ ] Written reports are clear, specific, and consistently structured
- [ ] Check-in procedure followed consistently
